The Board of Commissioners of Abington Township will hold a public meeting on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at 6:30 p.m. at the Abington Township building, 1176 Old York Road, Abington, PA 19001 in a hybrid format, to conduct a hearing on and to consider adoption of Ordinances 2186 and 2187.
There are three ways for the public to participate in the meeting: in-person, online or by phone. Residents who wish to attend in person can do so in the Abington Township Board Room located at 1176 Old York Road, Abington, PA 19001, 2nd Floor. Alternative means of public participation are offered for those who do not wish to or are unable to attend the meetings in person. Residents who wish to participate in the meeting remotely can access the meeting online by a computer, iPad, iPhone, or Android at https://us06web.zoom.us/j/88216803878. This link will enable residents to hear the meeting and see presentations. There will be no video interaction capabilities. Residents, who are unable to join online, can listen to the meeting by calling 1-929-436-2866 and entering the meeting ID number 882-1680-3878 when prompted.
Following the hearing, the Board of Commissioners may vote on the adoption of Ordinances 2186 and 2187.
2186 is entitled:
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE TOWNSHIP OF ABINGTON, PROVIDING FOR AND REGULATING A COLLEGE/UNIVERSITY CAMPUS USE IN THE CS – COMMUNITY SERVICE DISTRICT
Ordinance 2186 would amend the Abington Township Zoning Ordinance by, inter alia, amending the Comprehensive Use Matrix referred to in Section 901 of the Zoning Ordinance to create a new Use E-18 - “University Campus” which would be permitted in the Community Service Districts within the Township; amending Section 902 of the Zoning Ordinance to set forth applicable dimensional standards for Use E-18; amending Section 2103.E of the Zoning Ordinance – “Community Service Uses (Institutional Uses), to define the University Campus use, providing for architectural standards, submission requirements, dimensional requirements, traffic study requirements, steep slope disturbance requirements, parking lot landscaping requirements; amending Section 2304 of the Zoning Code – “Parking Use Requirements,” at subsection E – “Community Service (Institutional) Uses, to set forth applicable parking use requirements; amending the Comprehensive Use Matrix to change the title of Use E-14 – “School or College – Public/Private” to “School – Public/Private”; amending the Zoning Ordinance at Section 2103.E to amend the title and definition of Use E-14 – “School or College – Public or Private”; amending Section 2304 of the Zoning Ordinance – Parking Use Requirements, at Subsection E –
“Community Service (Institutional) uses, at Subsection 1, to amend the parking requirements related to Use E-14 – “School – Public/Private”; repealing all inconsistent ordinances; and establishing an effective date therefor, all as more particularly set forth in the text of Ordinance 2186.
2187 is entitled:
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE OFFICIAL ZONING MAP OF ABINGTON TOWNSHIP, BY REZONING THREE PARCELS FROM THE RESIDENTIAL LOW DENSITY (R-1) DISTRICT TO THE COMMUNITY SERVICE (CS) DISTRICT
Ordinance 2187 would amend the Official Abington Township Zoning Map, as provided for in section 300.2 of the Abington Township Zoning Ordinance, by rezoning parcels known as 1681 Cloverly Lane (tax parcel 30-00-09780-00-1), 1639 Cloverly Lane (tax parcel 30-00-09788-00-1 and 1655 Cloverly Lane (tax parcel 30-00-9784-00-5) from the Residential Low Density (R-1) District to the Community Service (CS) District; repealing all inconsistent ordinances; and establishing an effective date therefor, all as more particularly set forth in the text of Ordinance 2186.
A copy of the full text of proposed ordinances may be examined by any citizen in the Code Enforcement Office of Abington Township, 1176 Old York Road, Abington, PA, 19001 on regular business days between 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. An attested copy of the proposed ordinance has been sent to the Montgomery County Law Library and to The Times Chronicle and is available for public inspection.
