The Abington Township Board of Commissioners adopted a “Massage Establishment” Ordinance (#2183) on June 10^th, 2021. The Ordinance sets forth the rules and regulations regarding the licensing of both Massage Therapy and Alternative Therapy Establishments within the Township, as well as the licensing of Alternative Therapy Technicians. Abington Township does not license Massage Therapists as that is controlled by the Pennsylvania State Board of Massage Therapy.

Establishments

All establishments are to submit a complete application, including required documentation and fee, to the Abington Township Code Enforcement Division annually. Applications must be submitted in person. Once applications are received, establishments will have an on-site inspection from the Chief Code Enforcement Officer or their designee.

Establishments are required to not only keep an up-to-date roster of their therapists/technicians on site at all times but are required to submit it to the Abington Township Code Enforcement Division when any changes are made.

Establishment are required to keep their Abington Township License on display at all times within their establishment.

Alternative Therapy Technicians

All Alternative Therapy Technicians (ATT) that are employed within Abington Township must be issued an Alternative Therapy Technician License from the Abington Township Code Enforcement Division. To obtain a license, individuals are to submit a complete application, including required documentation and fee, to the Abington Township Code Enforcement Division annually. Applications must be submitted in person. Once applications are received, a certification/training verification and background check will be performed. Licenses Technicians must always keep a copy of their license on them while working as an ATT in Abington Township.

Alternative Therapy Establishment

Alternative Therapy Technician

Initial: $100 | Annual: $100
