Pedestrian and Stormwater Improvement Projects
About the Project
The Abington-Jenkintown Connections project is a pedestrian and stormwater improvement project that seeks to improve connectivity and stormwater management along Washington Lane, Jenkintown Road, Greenwood Avenue and Meetinghouse Road. The Abington Township Board of Commissioners began the planning and application of grants related to the Abington-Jenkintown Connections project in August 2017. This project is being completed in collaboration with Jenkintown Borough and will benefit all road users.
Key project goals include:
- Increased sidewalk connectivity
- Improved transit stop accessibility
- Improved pedestrian safety
- Provide stormwater facilities
- Increase intersection safety and operation along Greenwood Avenue, Meetinghouse Road and Jenkintown Road
This project is being funded through multiple sources DCED Multi-modal Transportation Fund, DVRPC Transportation Alternatives Set-Aside Funds, PennDOT Green Light Go, Montgomery County Transportation Program Grant, and Abington Township Public Works and Engineering.

Active Traffic Advisories
- Beginning Tuesday, April 16, 2024, we will be expecting temporary, roving, lane closures on both Greenwood Ave. and Washington Ln. during the working hours of 7 AM to 5 PM for Washington Ln. and 9 AM to 3 PM for Greenwood Ave.
