Land Use
Land use is critical to the short term and long term viability of the Abington community. The process for major land development begins with the Office of the Township Manager. The Township has created the Land Use and Development Guidance Document and Application to instruct and guide applicants through the process here at the Township. For any individual or company beginning the process for a major land development in Abington, please contact Terry Castorina, Executive Assistant to the Township Manager, at 267-536-1003 or tcastorina@abingtonpa.gov to set-up a meeting to discuss your plans and options.
For those seeking smaller applications, such as a homeowner seeking to subdivide a lot or allowable property uses, please contact the Planning and Zoning Officer at 267-536-1013.

Proposed Zoning Ordinance Amendment Requests
Zoning Ordinance amendments may be proposed by the Abington Township Board of Commissioners or may be requested by or on behalf of a property owner. There are two (2) types of Zoning Ordinance Amendments: Text Amendments and Map Amendments. Text Amendments propose changes to the language of the zoning ordinance, often related to the regulations for a specific zoning district. Text Amendments may include changes to uses permitted in a zoning district or modifications to dimensional requirements, design standards, etc. Map Amendments designate in which zoning district a parcel or collection of parcels is located, including changing the boundary of an existing zoning district. On occasion, new zoning districts are created. In such scenarios, both Text and Map Amendments are required.
