Any trash that does not fit within your trash cart should be placed in trash bags weighing no more than 30 lbs next to your trash cart at the curb. 

Please note, additional trash can ONLY be placed next to your trash cart on Trash Clean Out Weeks on the dates provided in the section above.

Yes. Any item that is not within a trash bag under 30 lbs will not be picked-up. ON clean out days the following materials WILL NOT be accepted:

1. No Large Items – examples: sofas, chairs, cabinets, table and chair sets, mattresses, shelves, exercise equipment, stoves, refrigerators, microwaves, washers, hot water heaters, large metal items, TVs, grills, windows, a/c units, tires, and wheelchairs.  Abington Township has a large item pick-up service. Arrangements can be made at the Abington Township Building, Ardsley Community Center, Alverthorpe Manor and the township Highway Yard. 2. No E-Waste and Hazardous Waste – examples: circuit cards, cabling, computer monitors, computers, printers, computer peripherals, copiers, fax machines, DVD players, radios, stereos and any other electronic device;  paint, toxic chemicals/materials or unsafe-to-handle items. Please call Montgomery County Hazardous Waste at 610-278-3618 to dispose of these items.
3. No Construction Material – examples: wood from removing decks and fencing; materials from renovations, remodeling or reconstruction (drywall and similar materials), shingles, ceiling tiles, floor  tiles, wall tiles, siding, dirt/sod, sand, stones, rocks, bricks, concrete, asphalt, and railroad ties.  You must contact your own contractor to dispose of these materials.

Free shredding events will be held from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Public Works Highway Yard located at 2201 Florey Lane, Abington, PA 19001 on:

• Saturday, April 27, 2024
• Saturday, October 19, 2024

Examples of What to Bring:
Obsolete Tax Documents, Bank Statements/Cancelled Checks, Sensitive information, Birth dates, Social Security Information, Signatures, Passwords and Pins, Credit Card Statements and Receipts, Credit Card Offers, Reports and Histories, etc.

Do not bring: newspapers, books or magazines, plastic covering or cardboard, CD’s or floppy discs.

"Anything with a Plug" electronics recycling collection events will be held from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Public Works Highway Yard located at 2201 Florey Lane, Abington, PA 19001 on:

Montgomery County's Retrievr program offers year-round pick-up for clothing and electronics at resident convenience. For more information about this program, please click here.

Free items include electronic devices with a plug such as laptops, peripheral, typewriters, telephones, microwaves, cameras, cell-phones, calculators, computers, mice, small appliances, fax machines, keyboards, and printers.

NO batteries, light bulbs, dehumidifiers, smoke detectors, portable air conditioner units, or large appliances will be accepted. 

Please note, portable air conditioner units are no longer being accepted at this event. Please schedule a large item pick-up from your residence at www.abingtonpa.gov/largeitempickup. 

Habitat for Humanity in Warminster and Langhorne accept and recycle televisions, computer monitors, printers, computer towers, laptops, tablets, and other miscellaneous electronics for FREE. Drop off only and by appointment only. Click here for more information and to schedule a drop off.
